Fiddleback Maple Altar

A small altar featuring highly prized fiddleback maple, featuring hand-cut chamfered details and curves reminiscent of Japanese architecture. Custom piece handmade by Rogue Aesthetic Woodwork, LLC

The portfolio page of Rogue Aesthetic Woodwork showcases signature, design-intensive custom woodwork pieces built by hand in High Springs, FL. Highlighted projects include a fiddleback maple altar with hand-cut chamfered details inspired by Japanese architecture, a live-edge Big Leaf Maple coffee table sourced from a slab found in Oregon and joined with Maloof-style legs, and a bookmatched quartersawn white oak dresser made for a repeat local client.

Other featured pieces include a purpleheart memorial altar built for a Denver client to honor deceased pets, featuring hand-cut details and mortise-and-tenon joinery; a figured black walnut altar with fiddleback and crotchwood grain; and "The Xylophone Bench," a locally harvested quartersawn cherry entryway bench repaired with bowtie splines to celebrate a natural crack in the slab, later purchased by a client in Mountain View, CA. A cherry coffee stand with shaker-style doors and a hand-shaped curved rail rounds out the collection.

Across the portfolio, recurring themes include highly figured and locally sourced hardwoods (maple, oak, cherry, walnut, purpleheart), traditional joinery techniques (mortise-and-tenon, Maloof joints, bowtie splines), and one-of-a-kind design work for clients across the country — not just North Central Florida. The page positions Rogue Aesthetic Woodwork as a maker of investment-grade, story-driven furniture rather than production pieces.

Big Leaf Maple Coffee Table

Custom highly figured maple slab coffee table. My wife and I found this slab in northern Oregon and I couldn’t pass it up. A massive crack down the center where two Big Leaf Maple trees had grown together. Features maloof joints for the legs.

Ju-Ju’s Dresser

This dresser features quarter-sawn white oak, bookmatched across the dresser top and drawer faces with brass hardware. Bookmatching creates a symmetrical effect. Quarter-sawing reveals medullary rays(the flecks across the grain). This is a custom piece for a local client who has been a repeat customer.

The Xylophone Bench

Locally harvested quartersawn cherry carefully crafted into a bespoke entryway bench with maloof joints. This design came to life when I saw that this gorgeous slab had a massive crack through the center of it. I wanted to celebrate the damage it had sustained by “sewing” it back together with bowtie splines. The result is a beautiful statement piece that was purchased by a client in Mountain View, CA.
